    What is a Varnish Machine?

    Varnishes provide protective coatings for wooden surfaces and various decorative objects. They protect and enhance the appearance of wooden floors and furniture. It is used for protecting wood from straining, abrasion, weather and water penetration. It is also used for giving the glossiness to paper surfaces. Varnishing machine is a product integrating light machinery with pneumatic control. It realizes whole-course automation and adopts belt conveying with high speed and efficiency. Machines are suitable for automatic impregnating of stators and rotors by trickle process. Stators and Rotors are heated to pre-determined temperature and then trickled with varnish and cured until it hardens. It is used to varnish Stators, Rotors, Coils, Transformer stack windings, small electronics transformers, etc.

    Construction and Working of Varnishing Machines

    The four major parts of a varnishing machine are:

    • STREAM FEEDER – It is a suction head with vacuum pump suction system Capable of being adjusted while running.
    • UV COATING UNIT – It is equipped with high sensitivity wind-knife system and suited for glazing of thick and thin paper
    • UV DRYING UNIT – It’s function is to promote the glossiness of the paper surface. UV radiation makes the UV oil harden and become resistant to wear.
    • AUTOMATIC DELIVERY UNIT – Conveyor belt produces low noise and make delivery smooth with its upper and lower pressing track design. Smearing on thin paper tends to produce curling, but the paper is kept stable with the pneumatic sheet jogging device knocking up both sides of sheet.

    Varnish Machine fitted with roller bearings ensure smooth & light running of the machine. The machine is semi-automatic and leaver impression of Varnish only when paper is fed. Conveyor belt stand with special arrangement for adjusting delivery tapes. Gumming is also done with this machine. According to the principle of Impregnation, activated resin is trickled in a thin jet on to the rotating preheated winding. The resin immediately gets heated and its viscosity is reduced. Due to the rotary motion of the winding the resin gets distributed evenly inside the winding without any drain loss. The heated winding accelerates the gelling and curing of the resin.

    The machine is used for both flood and spot varnishing on light and thick paper with accurate and even spot coating register. It is suitable for spot or full coating on words and graphics in books, advertisement sheets, colour paperboard to enhance its dimensional quality and surface protection. Integrated control with PLC can provide easy operation & trouble shooting during production. It is a fully automated working process from feeding to delivery.
